Qatar Raises FIFA Arab Cup Prize Money to a Record $36.5 Million

Qatar’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) said on Thursday that the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup will have a record prize of more than $36.5 million, according to news reports.

2025 FIFA Arab Cup

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, Qatar’s Sports Minister, said the Arab Cup is becoming more important and shows Qatar’s strong role in growing football in the region. The tournament was brought back in 2021.

It will take place from December 1 to 18 and will include senior men’s national teams from 22 Arab countries in both Asia and Africa.

The draw will happen this Sunday in Doha. Algeria, the current champion, is one of the favorites to win again.

FIFA took over the tournament from the original organizers, UAFA, and helped restart it in 2021. That year, the prize money was said to be $25.5 million.

FIFA Club World Cup

In March, FIFA said the winner of the 2025 Club World Cup could earn up to $125 million. The total prize money for the 32 teams in the tournament is $1 billion.

The tournament will be held in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025.

FIFA also confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup. For 2030, Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will co-host the tournament.

Transfer Spending

In 2024, football clubs made a record 22,779 international player transfers. They spent a total of $8.6 billion, the second-highest amount ever. The record of $9.6 billion was set in 2023.
