EFG Hermes Completes Advisory on $52.1 Million Sale of MOPCO Shares

EFG Hermes announced that it has completed its advisory role in the sale of shares in Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) through an Accelerated Bookbuild (ABB) worth $52.1 million (EGP 2.45 billion). The company shared the news in an official statement on Sunday.

Major Secondary Equity Deal in Egypt

This transaction is one of the most important secondary share sales in Egypt in 2025. It shows a rise in investor confidence and growing liquidity in the local stock market. The deal reflects a renewed interest from investors in Egyptian companies and signals a positive direction for the market.

EFG Hermes, a part of EFG Holding, worked as the sole financial advisor and bookrunner for the ABB. The transaction included the sale of 87 million MOPCO shares, valued at $52.1 million.

Expanding Access to Capital Markets

Maged El Ayouti, Co-Head of Investment Banking at EFG Hermes, said the deal highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to improve access to funding and investment opportunities in regional markets.

“This transaction reflects our broader mission to increase liquidity and investor participation in the region’s capital markets. It is part of several successful offerings that have helped revive investor interest in equities and support new listings,” said El Ayouti.

According to EFG Hermes, this sale demonstrates its continued leadership in Egypt and across the wider region in equity capital markets (ECM). The firm explained that accelerated offerings, like this one, can help companies quickly raise funds, increase investor diversity, and support both new and existing market activities.

Recognition for EFG Hermes Conferences

EFG Hermes has also been recognized internationally for its efforts to connect investors with companies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In September 2025, the company was ranked first in Extel’s 2025 Corporate Access Conference (Buy-Side View) for Emerging EMEA markets. This ranking confirms its strong role in linking global investors with opportunities in the region.

Extel’s ranking is based on an independent survey of institutional investors and analysts, who vote for brokers and banks that offer the best corporate access and events. In the same survey, EFG Hermes’ London conference was ranked third in the Conferences Corporate View category. Notably, EFG Hermes was the only investment bank with two events listed among the top three in separate rankings.

Looking Ahead: The One-on-One Conference

EFG Hermes’ most well-known event, the One-on-One Conference, is now considered the top investor event in the MENA region. The conference brings together major global investors and leading regional companies for networking and investment discussions. The 20th edition of this flagship event will be held in Dubai next year, marking two decades of success in promoting investment opportunities across the region.

Through deals like the MOPCO share sale and its award-winning conferences, EFG Hermes continues to play a central role in strengthening the link between regional markets and international investors.
