Travel Trends to Watch in 2025

As we head into 2025, travel is changing quickly to match what people want, new technology, and a greater focus on the environment. Travelers now care more about things like nostalgia, health, being eco-friendly, and using technology.

Traveling for Nostalgia

More people are traveling to places that bring back happy memories or have a personal or historical connection. Hilton’s 2025 Trends Report shows that 58% of travelers worldwide revisit childhood vacation spots with their kids. Nearly half also return to the same destinations every year.

This is especially true for people living in the U.A.E., where many travelers enjoy revisiting places that remind them of fond memories or familiar cultures. Families are particularly drawn to this trend, with 75% of U.A.E. parents choosing destinations they dreamed of visiting when they were younger.

Traveling for Better Sleep

Instead of trying to do everything on vacation, many travelers now focus on resting and recharging. This trend, known as “sleep tourism,” is growing fast. A report by Coherent Market Insights predicts the global sleep tourism market will increase from $70.13 billion in 2024 to $118.6 billion by 2031.

Hilton’s study of 13,000 travelers in 13 countries found that one in five people enjoys spending a full day in bed during their vacations. Two in five travelers also pick hotels that promise better sleep.

In the U.A.E., 62% of travelers say they sleep better in hotels than at home, and 38% dedicate an entire day to relaxing during their trips. Similarly, 42% of Saudi travelers say their main reason for taking a trip is to recharge and unwind.

Eco-Friendly Travel

In 2025, people will care more about how their travel choices affect the planet and themselves. According to Skyscanner, travelers are thinking more about sustainability. A Hilton report shows that 62% of travelers want to know if a hotel has eco-friendly programs, and 73% believe it’s important to reduce their environmental impact when traveling.

In the UAE, 84% of travelers look for sustainable and eco-friendly options, and 80% want clear information about hotels’ green practices to help them decide where to stay. In Saudi Arabia, 82% of travelers care about lowering their environmental impact, and 78% want hotels to share details about their sustainability efforts.

Sustainability and smart spending are shaping travel trends in 2025. One new trend is “vintage voyaging,” where travelers avoid big chain stores and choose local shopping to connect more deeply with the places they visit.

AI-powered travel tools

Technology is changing the way we travel, as shown in the 2025 Euronews Travel Trend Report. Tools like AI chatbots and virtual reality are making it easier to plan trips, manage bookings, and get personalized suggestions. A Statista survey found that more than half of travel tech companies use AI to help with bookings, and 48% use AI to suggest activities and places to visit.

Wellness travel

Wellness travel is focusing more on long-term health. According to a Booking.com survey of 27,713 people in 33 countries, 60% are interested in trips offering treatments like red light therapy, cryotherapy, and stem cell therapy. Statista predicts the global wellness travel market will grow to $1.4 trillion by 2027, more than double its 2022 value.
