Egypt’s Agiba Petroleum Boosts Production by 4,100 Barrels per Day with New Well

Agiba Petroleum Company in Egypt has increased its daily oil and gas production by about 4,100 barrels after starting production from the Arcadia-28 well, the company said on Monday.

Arcadia-28 Well Development

The well began producing on July 19 after a careful acid treatment process, using advanced methods similar to those used at another successful site called the Iris well.

This new production is an important step forward for the company and supports Egypt’s plan to increase local oil and gas output, as guided by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Background

Last month, Agiba said it found a high-quality oil reservoir while drilling Arcadia-28, showing strong potential in the area.

The well was quickly connected to nearby facilities thanks to Agiba’s fast development plan and use of the latest data, in partnership with other companies.

This news came shortly after the discovery of the Iris field, which produces 7,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Agiba Petroleum is a joint venture between Egypt’s state-owned EGPC and Italy’s Eni through its subsidiary, IEOC.

New Exploration Areas

In June, Egypt gave six new oil and gas exploration blocks to international companies. These blocks are in the Mediterranean Sea, the Nile Delta, and North Sinai. The goal is to attract more investment and increase exploration.

The new deals are expected to bring in about $245 million during the search phase, which includes drilling at least 13 new wells.

Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry also said more opportunities are available through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, including several untapped offshore discoveries in the Mediterranean.
