So Nourished Launches: Functional First Foods for Picky and Neurodivergent Eaters

A new children’s food brand has launched in the UAE this month, quietly reshaping how parents approach mealtimes. So Nourished, co-founded by expat mothers Nina Kavanagh and Safa Alkubaisi, was born from the shared frustration of feeding children who refused to eat and the realization that the answer lay in returning to real, ancestral nutrition.

Nina’s journey began when her son, later diagnosed with Level 3 autism, struggled with severe sensory aversions to textures, smells, and colours. “I felt powerless,” she recalls. “I knew food could help him, but everything on the market was bland or full of fillers. That’s when I went back to what my grandmother did.”

At the same time, Safa, pregnant and recovering from hyperemesis, was battling her own feeding challenges with a toddler who refused anything nutritious. “Then Nina sent me a recipe: a meat patty made with bone broth and hidden vegetables. He ate it. I cried.”

That moment sparked a partnership built on real-world parenting and nutritional science. Together, they began creating meals using bone broth, tallow, and marrow, rich in collagen, vitamins, and healthy fats that support gut health, immunity, and brain development.

The debut range, available for pre-order from 29 September 2025, includes Liquid Bone Broth (AED 79), Frozen “Boostie” Cubes (AED 75), Tallow (AED 99), and Whipped Marrow “Butter” (from AED 99). Each product is designed to integrate easily into everyday meals, stirred into porridge, pasta, or purees without altering a family’s routine.

Children with sensory preferences or neurodivergent conditions often have limited diets, leading to nutrient deficiencies that affect focus, sleep, and emotional regulation. So Nourished bridges that gap by providing nutrient-dense, whole-food alternatives to ultra-processed snacks disguised as “healthy.”

October marks the brand’s soft launch across the UAE, with media sampling and founder interviews continuing through the end of the year. But for Nina and Safa, So Nourished is more than a business; it’s a mission to help other parents reclaim the joy of mealtimes.

“We built the brand we needed,” says Nina. “And we know we’re not the only ones.”
