First Passenger Flight From Damascus to UAE Takes Off After Flights Restart

Syrian Airlines has restarted flights to the UAE. The first passenger plane left Damascus International Airport for Dubai on Sunday, according to the state news agency SANA.

Flights to the UAE

The airline announced on Facebook that there will be four flights each week between Damascus and Dubai. These flights will be on Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. They plan to increase these flights to every day soon.

Flights to Sharjah will be available on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. The airline is also working on making these daily.

Flights between Damascus and Abu Dhabi will run on Tuesdays and Fridays. The airline said it wants to grow its flight network quickly.

Flights between Syria and the UAE restarted on April 14, after Syrian President Ahmad Al Sharaa made his first official visit to the UAE since becoming president.

Flights to Syria were stopped during the civil war. But after former President Bashar Al-Assad was removed from power, several countries restarted flights.

Wheat Shipment

In other news, SANA reported that the first wheat shipment since the previous government fell has arrived at the Port of Latakia.

The Land and Sea Border Authority also held a meeting to review its work in the first part of the year. They looked at how they performed and planned what to do next.

The meeting focused on fixing roads and buildings at land and sea borders, helping trade and travel, checking the quality of services for people and investors, and creating a clear plan to improve ports and free zones. The goal is to help the country’s economy and attract investment.

They also discussed the budget for the next few months, making sure money is used well and goes to the most important projects.

Diplomatic Efforts

President Al Sharaa has been leading efforts to improve Syria’s relationships with other countries since the Assad government ended in December. The country is now going through political changes and trying to fix its economy.

Last Tuesday, the president visited Doha and met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to talk about peace and safety in the region.

The day before, he met Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in Damascus. They are working to improve their countries’ relationship. This follows a historic border agreement signed last month to reduce tension and improve cooperation.
