On Monday, the UAE’s cabinet set up the Emirates Council for Logistics Integration to strengthen the country’s role in global trade. They also approved the National Cybersecurity Strategy to create a strong and well-organized system for cybersecurity.

Logistics Integration

The UAE government has set up the Emirates Council for Logistics Integration to improve coordination and strengthen the country’s role in global trade.

This council will bring together key sectors like ports, roads, transport, customs, and railways at both federal and local levels.

In 2023, the logistics sector was worth $35.1 billion (AED 129 billion). The UAE plans to grow this to $54.4 billion (AED 200 billion) in the next seven years.

During the meeting, officials also discussed the Etihad Rail passenger train project. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s ruler and the UAE’s prime minister, said the project will add $39.5 billion (AED 145 billion) to the country’s economy over the next 50 years.

Cybersecurity Strategy

The UAE’s National Cybersecurity Strategy aims to create a strong and secure digital space. It focuses on improving cybersecurity skills, advancing digital technology, and building partnerships locally and internationally.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the UAE is ranked among the top countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 and will continue to develop a safe and flexible digital environment.

Other Approvals

The cabinet approved the second phase of the National Strategy for Talent Attraction and Retention 2031. This phase aims to make the UAE a top destination for skilled workers by improving career opportunities and ensuring job stability.

Officials also reviewed progress on the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022-2030, which works to protect the environment.

Additionally, the government launched Government Innovation Month to encourage new ideas and advancements.
