Mubadala Capital Raises $554 Million in Its First Co-Investment Fund

Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company, has successfully closed its first co-investment fund. The fund raised $554 million, going well above its original target of $400 million. This strong result shows high interest from investors around the world.

The fund is called the Mubadala Capital Co-Investment Fund I (MCCF I). At first, the fund was planned to stop raising money once it reached $500 million. However, because of strong demand from investors, Mubadala Capital increased the fund size to allow more commitments. The company announced the final closing on Wednesday.

Global Investor Support

Investors in the fund come from many regions, including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. These investors include large asset managers, banks and financial institutions, university endowments, and family offices. This wide mix of investors highlights global confidence in Mubadala Capital’s investment strategy and track record.

The strong interest also reflects investors’ growing appetite for private market opportunities, especially co-investments that allow them to invest directly alongside experienced global sponsors.

Investment Focus and Strategy

The co-investment fund focuses on direct private equity deals, working with top-tier global sponsors. The fund targets well-established and growing sectors such as:

  • Financial services

  • Healthcare services

  • Software and technology

  • Media and entertainment

  • Education

By investing alongside leading sponsors, Mubadala Capital aims to access high-quality companies with strong growth potential. Co-investments also allow investors to benefit from lower fees and more control compared to traditional private equity fund structures.

Strong Global Network

In a company statement, Mubadala Capital said the successful closing highlights its ability to identify unique investment opportunities through its global network and deep industry expertise. The firm believes this gives it a clear advantage in different market conditions, including during times of economic uncertainty.

Mubadala Capital has long-term relationships with leading private equity sponsors around the world. These connections help the firm source high-quality opportunities that may not always be available to the wider market.

Leadership Confidence

Maxime Franzetti and Fatima Al Noaimi, Co-Heads of Mubadala Capital Solutions, said the strong response from investors gives them confidence as the platform continues to grow.

They explained that the strong momentum supports Mubadala Capital’s plans to expand its third-party investment platform and continue investing in carefully selected, high-quality opportunities. They also highlighted the firm’s goal of working closely with the world’s top sponsors to create long-term value for investors.

Part of a Broader Platform

MCCF I is part of the Mubadala Capital Solutions platform, which is designed to give institutional investors access to private markets in different ways. The platform offers:

  • Co-investment opportunities

  • Partnerships with leading global asset managers

  • Primary and secondary private market strategies

  • Customized separately managed accounts

This approach allows investors to choose investment structures that match their goals, risk appetite, and return expectations.

Large-Scale Global Asset Manager

Mubadala Capital manages, advises, and oversees more than $430 billion in assets on behalf of clients and partners. It works closely with external managers and strategic partners to provide access to a wide range of investment opportunities.

As a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, the firm invests across several areas. These include private equity, special opportunities with a strong focus on Brazil, and other alternative investments. Mubadala Capital also holds stakes in private wealth businesses, credit platforms, insurance operations, and real estate.

Experienced Team and Global Presence

The firm employs over 200 investment professionals worldwide. Its offices are located in key global financial centers, including:

  • Abu Dhabi

  • New York

  • London

  • Rio de Janeiro

This global presence allows Mubadala Capital to stay close to major markets, partners, and investment opportunities. It also helps the firm better understand local trends and risks.

A Preferred Partner for Investors

With its strong financial backing, global reach, and deep experience in private markets, Mubadala Capital continues to position itself as a trusted partner for institutional and long-term investors. The successful closing of its first co-investment fund marks an important step in expanding its third-party investment business.
