Jessica Kahawaty: A Beauty with a Purpose

Jessica Kahawaty is not just a familiar face in fashion campaigns or beauty pageants—she’s a multifaceted powerhouse who has carved a space for herself in modeling, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. With her Lebanese-Australian heritage, remarkable poise, and sharp intellect, Jessica has become a symbol of modern Middle Eastern elegance and global influence.

Early Life and Education

Born on September 12, 1988, in Sydney, Australia, to Lebanese parents, Jessica Kahawaty grew up in a multicultural environment that deeply shaped her worldview. Her upbringing was a blend of Western freedom and Middle Eastern tradition, giving her a unique ability to relate to diverse audiences.

Despite the glitz and glamour she would later embrace, Jessica pursued academics with dedication. She studied Law and Business at the University of Sydney, later earning a Bachelor of Laws degree. Her legal background has helped her remain articulate, socially aware, and confident—qualities that have become part of her personal brand.

Rise in the Pageant World

Jessica’s foray into beauty pageants began early. She represented Lebanon in Miss World 2012, held in Inner Mongolia, China, and emerged as the 2nd Runner-Up, an achievement that placed her firmly on the international stage. Her success was not just due to her looks, but also her ability to speak eloquently on global issues, especially topics related to refugee crises and women’s rights.

Prior to Miss World, she had also competed in several regional pageants, including Miss Lebanon Australia 2008, Miss Lebanon Emigrant 2010, and Miss International 2011, further refining her presence in front of the global media.

Career in Fashion and Media

Jessica’s modeling career skyrocketed after her pageant success. She has worked with luxury brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Hermès, and Valentino, and appeared on covers of fashion magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and L’Officiel.

But Jessica’s career isn’t limited to modeling. She’s also a seasoned TV presenter and host. She has hosted fashion and entertainment shows in both English and Arabic, including events for Dubai TV, MBC, and Fashion TV. Her charm, fluency in multiple languages (English, Arabic, French), and camera presence make her a favorite choice for high-profile regional events.

In 2017, Jessica was selected to co-host Project Runway Middle East, giving her even more visibility in the fashion community across the Arab world.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

Jessica has also dabbled in entrepreneurship with a cause. In 2020, she launched Mama Rita, a healthy food delivery service based in Dubai, with her mother, Rita Kahawaty. The brand merges traditional Lebanese recipes with modern wellness trends, offering nutritious meals made with love.

Mama Rita is a family story at its core—Jessica’s way of combining her mom’s authentic Lebanese cooking with her own brand power to create something meaningful. The venture gained immediate popularity in the UAE and was praised not just for its food but also for the warmth of its message: home-cooked comfort food that nourishes the body and soul.

Humanitarian Work

Jessica has always emphasized substance over style. Her humanitarian efforts are an integral part of her identity. A strong advocate for refugee rights, Jessica has worked with organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to bring attention to the plight of displaced communities.

She has visited refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, often using her platform to shed light on the living conditions of those affected by war, especially Syrian refugees. She has been vocal on her social media platforms about issues such as famine, child labor, poverty, and gender-based violence.

In one notable instance, she collaborated with the UN World Food Programme to fundraise and raise awareness about child hunger. Jessica doesn’t just repost information—she educates her followers, engages in dialogue, and uses her visibility to amplify voices often overlooked.

Social Media and Influence

With over a million followers on Instagram, Jessica has cultivated a loyal fanbase that spans continents. Unlike many influencers, her content balances fashion and beauty with meaningful advocacy and glimpses into her personal growth.

She has frequently spoken about mental health, body image, and self-worth—encouraging young women to embrace their unique journeys rather than conform to superficial standards. Jessica’s online presence is a mix of vulnerability, elegance, and empowerment.

She often posts long captions discussing issues like burnout, anxiety, and self-love, making her stand out in a sea of polished images and filtered lifestyles.

Beauty with Brains

Jessica Kahawaty is the embodiment of “beauty with brains.” Her academic background, combined with real-world experience in law, media, and humanitarian work, adds depth to her public persona. She’s a perfect example of how modern beauty queens are evolving—far from the stereotypical image of surface-level glamor.

Jessica believes in continuous self-improvement, constantly reinventing herself while remaining grounded in her values. Her ability to transition between worlds—modeling runways, refugee camps, corporate meetings, and digital platforms—is a testament to her adaptability and authenticity.

Looking Ahead

Jessica Kahawaty’s journey is far from over. Whether she’s on the cover of a fashion magazine or speaking at a UN event, she brings grace, intelligence, and purpose. As she continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: she is not here just to be admired; she is here to make a difference.

In a region where women are often expected to choose between tradition and modernity, Jessica has shown that it’s possible to embrace both—and thrive. Her story inspires young women across the Middle East and beyond to dream big, stay grounded, and always lead with purpose.
