Bridging Finance and Faith: An Exclusive Interview with Thoughtful Income Advisory’s Founder Caption Here

Peter J Nagle Interview

In this insightful conversation, Peter J Nagle the founder of Thoughtful Income Advisory and Soulwork.Faith about weaving together financial strategy and spiritual depth. With a background from Yale Divinity School and extensive international experience, he shares how values, justice, and meaning influence the way he guides people toward both financial security and purposeful living.

Balancing Finance and Faith

We started the interview by asking, “You run both Thoughtful Income Advisory and Soulwork.Faith. How do your financial work and spiritual direction work come together?

Peter J Nagle replied, “They actually support each other. Money decisions aren’t just about numbers, they’re about meaning and values. When I sit with someone about their income, I want to understand the life they want, not just the return they want. My background in spiritual direction helps me listen for what really matters to them. I hold a Master’s Degree from Yale Divinity School and that experience profoundly changed my life, it helped me see how deeply our inner beliefs shape our relationship with money and purpose. Sometimes the best financial move doesn’t line up with what feels right in their heart, and we work through that tension together.

Building Reliable Income in Uncertain Times

The Arab Today: Your approach to “thoughtful income” focuses on helping people reduce taxes and create reliable income in retirement. How do you make sure that income is stable long term, especially when the economy is unpredictable?

Peter J Nagle replied, “I look at multiple income sources such as dividends, fixed income, real estate, and sometimes annuities, and build resilience into the plan. I always want clients to understand the trade-offs. Higher yield usually means higher risk, so we talk openly about that. I also run different scenarios like what if taxes go up or what if inflation spikes, and prepare for those outcomes. It’s about creating confidence that their income can weather changes.

Lessons from the West Bank

The Arab Today: You’ve been to the West Bank 16 times and you educate people about what you’ve seen there. How has that experience shaped the way you think about income and financial advice?

Peter J Nagle replied, “Visiting the West Bank has deeply changed me. When you see people living in conflict zones, under oppression, you realize how different their lives are compared to what we often hear in the news. It makes me think a lot about justice and how wealth is used. For me, wealth isn’t just about personal gain, it’s also about responsibility. That perspective sometimes leads me to encourage investing more focused on avoiding support for systems of oppression and to help clients think about giving in ways that reflect their values.

The Future of Income Investing

The Arab Today: With markets and global events shifting all the time, what trends do you think will affect income investing most in the next 5 to 10 years?

Peter J Nagle replied, “Taxes and government policy will play a big role. Inflation and interest rates will keep shaping returns. I also see more people asking about socially responsible or impact investments, though it’s important to separate the hype from what actually delivers results. Global events from wars to climate challenges will continue to affect markets. I want clients to be flexible and not depend on just one strategy.

Aligning Security with Generosity

The Arab Today: Many people wrestle with wanting financial security while also wanting to live generously and ethically. How do you help clients balance those two goals?

We start by talking about what really matters to them. Sometimes that means setting aside part of their income for giving or investing in causes they believe in. Other times it means finding peace with earning a little less if it means living in alignment with their values. I don’t hand people the right answer. Instead, I give them a framework and safe space to weigh the trade-offs, so their money choices feel both secure and meaningful.” Peter J Nagle concluded
