From Project Sites to Boardrooms
We started the interview by asking, “With over 24 years of experience in the HVAC and construction industries, what core leadership principles have guided your success across different roles?”
Mazin W. Zaidan replied, “Throughout my career, the principles that have consistently guided me are clarity, consistency, and a people-first mindset. I’ve always believed that leadership is not about titles but about action, accountability, and the ability to inspire those around you. Early on, I learned the value of strategic planning and clear communication. These traits became even more critical as I moved into senior leadership positions. Equally important has been investing in people—mentoring teams, providing growth opportunities, and encouraging innovation at all levels. I focus on aligning business goals with personal development, which creates motivated, empowered teams. Whether it’s managing complex projects or leading organizational change, I’ve found that success comes from creating an environment where people feel valued, trusted, and challenged. My commitment to excellence, coupled with a relentless drive to improve, has shaped the leader I am today and continues to guide me in every decision I make.”
Leading with Clarity
The Arab Today: As Group CEO of HMD Consolidate, how do you align your subsidiaries’ operations under one unified vision?
Mazin W. Zaidan replied, “One of the biggest responsibilities I have as Group CEO is ensuring that our various subsidiaries operate with a unified direction, even though they specialize in different sectors. Under the visionary leadership, and the unwavering support of Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa,
Chairman of HMD Consolidate, I begin by forging a shared vision—one that is deeply rooted in our core values of excellence, trust, innovation, and service. Whether through Contratech, Leap, Marinetech, or Contratech International Trading, each entity understands its distinct role in driving our collective mission forward. I maintain regular communication with leadership across the companies to align goals, streamline processes, and promote collaboration. Strategic planning sessions, cross-functional task forces, and a unified corporate culture help us operate as one cohesive unit. Ultimately, success lies in integration—connecting each team’s strengths and ensuring we’re moving together toward shared objectives. It’s not just about managing operations; it’s about creating a culture where collaboration and shared purpose drive everything we do.”
Efficiency Meets Empathy
The Arab Today: Your background emphasizes a high focus on project management and customer satisfaction. How do you balance operational efficiency with long-term client relationships?
Mazin W. Zaidan replied, “Balancing operational efficiency with long-term client relationships has always been a top priority for me. Efficient execution is critical in our industry, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of personalized service or trust. My approach is to build strong foundations through detailed planning, precise execution, and open communication. Every project begins with understanding the client’s unique needs, expectations, and long-term goals. From there, my team and I work closely with them throughout the project lifecycle, offering transparency at every stage. We focus on proactive solutions, anticipating potential issues before they arise and addressing them quickly. This not only keeps projects on track but builds confidence. Over the years, many of our clients have stayed with us because they see that we genuinely care about their success, not just the transaction. In short, our strategy is simple: deliver with excellence and treat every client like a long-term partner.”
A Proven Sales Team Strategy
The Arab Today: What is your approach to developing high-performing sales teams in a highly competitive industry like HVAC and construction?
Mazin W. Zaidan replied, “Building high-performing sales teams in a competitive environment requires more than just setting targets. It’s about nurturing talent and cultivating a winning mindset. I start by hiring people who show not only skill but also passion and adaptability. Once they’re onboard, I ensure they receive ongoing training, clear KPIs, and real-time feedback. I believe in creating an environment where people are empowered to take ownership of their work and feel a sense of pride in what they do. Incentives are important, but equally vital is creating a team culture that thrives on collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement. I also emphasize customer-centric selling—understanding the client’s business, pain points, and goals before proposing solutions. My focus has always been on long-term growth rather than short-term wins, and that’s reflected in how we develop our teams. When people feel motivated and supported, they exceed expectations, and that’s when true performance shines.”
HMD Consolidate’s Expansion Vision
Lastly we asked, “Looking ahead, how do you see HMD Consolidate playing a transformative role in Bahrain’s development and the broader GCC market?”
“As we look to the future, I see HMD Consolidate becoming a key driver of innovation and sustainable development not only in Bahrain but across the GCC. We are strategically positioned in sectors that are vital to the region’s growth, including MEP, civil works, marine services, and trading. Our aim is to integrate smart technologies, eco-friendly practices, and local talent to build stronger, more resilient communities and infrastructures. We plan to leverage our subsidiaries’ expertise to deliver solutions that are both scalable and forward-thinking. I’m particularly excited about the role we can play in advancing Bahrain’s Vision 2030 by supporting its infrastructure, industrial growth, and environmental sustainability. Beyond business, we want to make a meaningful impact by creating jobs, fostering innovation, and supporting social responsibility. HMD Consolidate is more than just a group of companies.
