A distinguished family physician, Dr. Sofica Bistriceanu, brings her extensive experience to the healthcare landscape. From participating in numerous meetings to carrying out over 135 presentations internationally and publishing more than 55 articles in international journals, Dr. Bistriceanu is an acclaimed professional.
Dr. Bistriceanu is also a member of the Academy for Professionalism in Healthcare and serves on the Editorial Review Board for The Journal of Patient Experience (JPX), the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medical Research and Clinical Case Reports – Research Portal Central Publishers, and serves as an Associate Editor for Primera Scientific Publication. Besides her contributions to healthcare and research, she has even authored seven volumes of poetry, reflecting her creative expertise.

Spark Behind the Journey
We started the interview by asking, “What inspired you to start or lead this business, and how has the journey surprised you?”
Dr. Bistriceanu shared, “I decided to start the medical home model as a private practice to work independently. The medical home model has given me more information that helps me better understand how humans function, and the start and development of disorders. By visiting the patient at home, the doctor can observe more relevant details about the patient’s health, including the environment, behavior, culture, social networks, and access to technology. Communication skills within the family or community continue to be a key factor related to people’s health.”
Advice to Younger Self
We further asked Dr. Sofica Bistriceanu, “If you could go back to your first year in this role, what advice would you give yourself?”
“Physician reputation in real or online communities is a crucial factor influencing business growth. Be cautious of your name. If individuals with bad intentions try to undermine it, stay alert and avoid or leave a toxic environment,” she reflected.
Navigating through Uncertainties

Dr. Bistriceanu explained, “Every problem has a solution. Choosing the worst, bad, or the best one reveals your ingenuity, integrity, and resilience. In other words, your choice defines who you are.”

“Home visits for patients with advanced heart disease facilitate personalized treatment, including medicines and behaviour change. Results differed from the medical literature, as the environment contributed to the onset and progression of disease. In the office, a physician can’t observe all external factors that affect human functioning,” she mentioned.

Effective leadership can take a business to new heights. To understand what defines Dr. Sofica Bistriceanu’s leadership approach, we asked, “If you had to describe your leadership style in one word, what would it be, and why?”
She reflected, “Integrity — be honest, respectful, friendly, and generous in relationships, when possible. Moreover, try to earn others’ respect. Attentiveness to collaborators’ verbal and nonverbal communication, which reflects their perception of your work value, is equally essential. Their voice and face light usually signal their feelings: appreciation, disappointment, pleasure, or disapproval.”

We further posed the question, “Can you share a challenge you faced that led to a surprising breakthrough?”
Dr. Bistriceanu commented, “Generosity to those in need rewards you significantly in the future.”
