Georges Hobeika Honors His Mother Marie With His SS25 Couture Collection

Since George Hobeika’s son became co-creative director of the brand in 2022, the House of Georges Hobeika’s collections have become more elegant, with designs that are chicer and more feminine, while pushing the limits of couture. It was the first Arab brand to open Haute Couture Week in Paris for the Spring-Summer 2025 season. The collection honors Marie Hobeika, Georges’ mother, who is considered the foundation of the House.

In the front row of the 22-minute show were jewelry designer Valerie Messika, actresses Elonora Carisi, Mahira Abdel Aziz, and Tuba Büyüküstün, content creators Twins Hadban, model Nour Rizk, and swimmer Yusra Mardini.

The first outfit featured a black column skirt with a matching top decorated with shimmering crystals arranged in a diagonal pattern. The collection had a strong black theme with evening gowns, some with mesh tops and off-the-shoulder styles, creating a sensual feel with sharp cuts and dramatic feather coats. There were also some men’s pieces, including suits with gold embroidery and glittery details on coats and jackets, showing that men can have the same luxurious couture style as women.

This collection is ready for the red carpet, featuring sparkling gowns with sequins. While there are many black pieces, there are also colors like midnight blue, pale yellow, emerald green, and red. The collection has an avant-garde, Schiaparelli-like feel, with many pieces inspired by surrealism. Hobeika’s designs play with shapes, materials, and unique proportions, like medieval-style hoods on gowns, creating dreamy and challenging silhouettes.

In Lebanon, couture craftsmanship comes from the influences of various empires that passed through the country. Each empire left behind its artistic skills, which were passed down through generations, from grandmother to grandchild or mother to child in small villages. This is how Georges Hobeika learned couture, as his mother Marie taught him the art of sewing.

Marie passed away in 2024, and both Georges and Jad wanted to honor her. The show announcement says: “She was the heart and foundation of the House, bringing energy and wisdom that was passed down through generations. She taught Georges how to sew, helping him develop a love for craftsmanship, embroidery, and striving for perfection—a legacy he now shares with his son, Jad.”

The father and son wanted the collection to celebrate life’s journey through a strong legacy. “We opened our workshop in Lebanon in 1995, starting a legacy we are proud to continue today. Every creation we make shows our values: elegance, strength, dignity, and a refined sensuality,” says the House.
