Dubai is ranked eighth in the top 10 cities of the Global Power City Index 2024

Dubai is ranked eighth in the world and first in the region in the Global Power City Index 2024 (GPCI), maintaining the same position for the second year in a row.

Dubai’s Ranking

Dubai was the only city in the Middle East to make it into the top 10, according to a yearly study by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said in a post on X that the city offers one of the best environments for businesses to grow, for new ideas to develop, and for people to achieve their goals while enjoying a high quality of life.

He pointed out that Dubai’s success is driven by factors like its strong infrastructure, which attracts global investment and talent. He also mentioned that the city’s laws are flexible and forward-thinking, encouraging innovation and staying in tune with global changes.

Additionally, the Crown Prince highlighted the importance of Dubai’s strong partnerships between the public and private sectors, which help create a thriving environment for growth and collaboration.

Global Power City Index (GPCI)

The GPCI ranks the world’s top cities based on how much they can attract people, money, and businesses from all over the world.

It looks at factors like the economy, research and development, culture, quality of life, environment, and how easy it is to get to the city.

Cairo is the only other Arab city on the list, ranking 46th.
