Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Reached 6,551 MW in 2024: GASTAT
Saudi Arabia Reaches 10 Renewable Energy Projects by End of 2024 By the end of 2024, Saudi Arabia had a total of 10 renewable energy projects in operation, with a total capacity of 6,551 megawatts (MW), according to the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Solar and Wind Projects
In 2024, five new solar energy projects were launched with a total capacity of 3,751 MW. Out of the 10 total projects, nine are solar, providing 6,151 MW. One wind project adds another 400 MW.
Investment in Renewable Energy
The total investment in these renewable projects reached around $5.3 billion. Of this, $4.87 billion was spent on solar projects and $420 million on wind projects.
The lowest cost of electricity was recorded at the Shuaiiba 1 Solar Project, at just $0.010 per kilowatt-hour.

Electricity from renewable energy now reaches about 1.14 million homes. Key contributions include:

New Developments
On Monday, a group led by energy company ACWA Power signed deals to build more renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 15 gigawatts (GW). These projects will cost about $8.3 billion and include five solar plants in Asir, Madinah, Makkah, and Riyadh, plus two wind projects in Riyadh.
Looking Ahead
Saudi Arabia plans to reach 130 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, as part of its Vision 2030 plan to grow and diversify its economy.
