Dolce&Gabbana opens its biggest single-floor store in the world in Riyadh

Italian luxury brand Dolce&Gabbana has always worked to combine culture with fashion. On December 12, the brand opened its biggest store in the world in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the Diriyah area. The store is over 2,000 square meters, and Domenico Dolce, one half of the Dolce&Gabbana duo, was there for the opening.

This is not Dolce&Gabbana’s first store in Riyadh, as they already have a smaller boutique in Via Riyadh. However, the new store in Diriyah’s Bujairi Terrace mixes Italian style with Saudi Arabian design. The store has black marble floors, reflecting Italian elegance, and walls that resemble traditional Saudi mudbrick. In the center, there are gold statue date trees providing light. The store uses a color scheme of black, gold, and silver, representing both luxury and a mix of Italian and Saudi Arabian cultures. The DG Caffè inside the store has a circular bar where visitors can enjoy drinks while shopping.

The store mostly sells women’s clothing, while the men’s section is small. Dolce&Gabbana usually makes men’s clothes on a custom basis, and this service will be available in the store. There is also a large section for accessories, fine jewelry, watches, home décor, and beauty products. However, the most notable part is the exclusive Dolce&Gabbana abaya section.

“The opening of this store is more important than people realize because Dolce&Gabbana is known worldwide, especially in luxury fashion,” says Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of Diriyah Company Group. He and Domenico Dolce have been friends for years, bonded by their shared Italian heritage and love for Italian creativity. “These guys are the real deal. They’re not just a fashion brand; they have a renaissance mindset and care deeply about the community, celebrating cultural uniqueness.”

The Italian brand has over 100 stores around the world. Its biggest locations are its flagship store on 54 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, which is more than 2,400 square meters with a porcelain façade, glass windows, and glass floors. In Milan, the flagship store is located in a 19th-century building on Via Montenapoleone, with 1,600 square meters spread over four floors. Its store in Seoul, South Korea is five stories tall and shaped like a black cylinder, while the New York flagship store on Fifth Avenue covers 1,709 square meters.

Other luxury brands with stores in malls in Riyadh include Ashi by Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi, Lebanese designer Elie Saab, Tom Ford, Zegna, Dior, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Armani, Versace, and more.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 encourages economic growth in the luxury fashion sector, boosting the country’s position in the retail market. In 2024, Saudi Arabia’s luxury goods market reached $2.84 billion, compared to China’s $102 billion. It is expected that Saudi’s retail market will grow by 2.42% each year from 2024 to 2029. The development of luxury malls and other retail spaces will help this growth.
