Introducing Trumed Lifescience Solutions
The Arab Today: Mr. Vijayakumar, to begin with, could you please give us an overview of Trumed Lifescience Solutions? We would love to understand what the company focuses on and what makes its work significant in the medical device industry.
Vijaya Kumar replied, “Trumed Lifescience Solutions is a medical device company that focuses on developing and manufacturing high quality, affordable healthcare technologies in India with features hitherto un-attempted globally. Our main goal is to provide indigenous, innovative medical solutions, especially in critical care and life saving applications like infant cardiac surgery, while ensuring global standards in safety and performance.”
Leadership Behind the Innovation
The Arab Today: As a key leader at Trumed Lifescience Solutions, can you tell us more about your role within the organization? What responsibilities do you manage, and how do you contribute to the company’s growth and innovation?
Vijaya Kumar replied, “I provide key leadership role in guiding the company’s research, development, and commercialization efforts. I work and steer closely cross functional teams such as R&D, manufacturing, Quality assurance, regulatory, and marketing to steer new medical technologies from concept to market. My focus is blending innovation, quality, and ensuring that our products meet both clinical performance demands and cost expectations.”
Overcoming Challenges in India’s MedTech Ecosystem
The Arab Today: Developing medical devices in India comes with its own unique set of challenges. From your experience, what are some of the major hurdles Trumed has faced, and how have you approached overcoming them?
Vijaya Kumar replied, “Bridging innovation and affordability with an eye on time to market that too in a not yet fully matured eco system with gaps in supply chain , testing systems was our key challenge. The need to balance affordability with high performance remained our top priority in the entire life cycle of our devices engineering. To overcome these, we not built but in fact ended up in developing delivery capabilities with suppliers stretching to knowledge transfer, strict quality systems, and value engineering to sustain and achieve the end device’s cost effectiveness without compromising quality and aimed USPs.”
Ensuring Quality and Safety at Every Stage
The Arab Today: Quality and safety are extremely important when it comes to medical devices. How does Trumed Lifescience Solutions ensure that every product meets the highest standards of performance, reliability, and patient safety?
Vijaya Kumar replied, “Quality and safety are integrated from concept stage itself and at the heart of everything we do. We follow international standards like ISO 13485, perform multiple rounds of pre-clinical validation, followed by extensive pre – clinical evaluations before launch. Every product goes through strict zero defective quality assurance processes from design to manufacturing to ensure patient safety and reliability.”
Vision for the Future of Trumed Lifescience
The Arab Today: Looking ahead, what is your long-term vision for Trumed Lifescience Solutions? How do you see the company evolving in the coming years, both in terms of innovation and its contribution to the global healthcare industry?
Vijaya Kumar replied, “Our vision is to showcase India as a global hub for medical device’s integrated innovation be it in design or manufacture. We want to continue developing more advanced yet affordable healthcare technologies with backward integration to spread our reach to domestic and international needs. In the next few years, we aim to expand our product portfolio, strengthen our R&D base, and collaboration with hospitals and research institutions for integrated engineering like for example make not just the haemoconcentrator for cardiopulmonary bypass but make its most vital part the hollow fibre too, thereby stand out in the globe as one and only fully integrated player, as otherwise bridging affordability and innovation will turn herculean.”
