Grace Lian Interview
In this insightful conversation with Grace Lian, a seasoned psychotherapist and founder of Resilience & You, shares how her integrative, trauma-informed approach supports leaders, entrepreneurs, and high achievers who look successful outwardly but struggle internally. Blending therapy and coaching, she explains why true resilience isn’t about pushing harder, it’s about healing, self-awareness, and creating sustainable emotional well-being that positively impacts both personal lives and professional leadership.
The Birth of Resilience & You
We started the interview by asking, “Grace, can you tell us about yourself and what led you to create Resilience & You?”
Grace Lian replied, “I’m a registered psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through emotional, relational, and professional challenges. Over time, I noticed that many high-achieving professionals were successful on the outside but struggling internally. Resilience & You was born from my desire to create a space where people especially leaders and entrepreneurs, could work on their mental and emotional well-being in a way that supports both their personal lives and professional growth.”
An Integrative, Trauma-Informed Approach to Healing
The Arab Today: Your work combines therapy and coaching. What makes your approach different?
Grace Lian replied, “I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. My work blends evidence-based psychology with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care. I look at the whole person, their experiences, relationships, nervous system, and inner world. By integrating different therapeutic approaches, I help clients build resilience that is grounded, practical, and deeply personal, rather than just focused on performance or productivity.”
Why Leaders and Entrepreneurs Are Her Focus
The Arab Today: Who do you most often work with, and what draws you to this group?
Grace Lian replied, “I primarily work with business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs. These individuals carry immense responsibility and pressure, often while ignoring their own emotional needs. I’m drawn to this group because when leaders are emotionally healthy, it positively impacts not only their own lives but also their teams, families, and communities. Supporting those feels both meaningful and far-reaching.”
The Power of Trauma-Informed Care
The Arab Today: Trauma-informed care is a key part of your practice. Why is this so important?
Grace Lian replied, “Trauma doesn’t always come from extreme events, it can also stem from ongoing stress, emotional neglect, or unresolved experiences. Trauma-informed care allows me to work gently and safely with the nervous system, helping clients understand their reactions instead of judging them. As a certified EMDR therapist, I support clients in processing past experiences so they can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional stability.”
Common Struggles beneath Professional Success
The Arab Today: What challenges do your clients usually come to you with?
Grace Lian replied, “Many of my clients experience burnout, chronic stress, or a sense of emotional exhaustion. Others struggle with relationship issues, leadership pressure, self-doubt, or feeling disconnected from themselves despite outward success. Often, there’s a desire not just to “cope,” but to feel more grounded, fulfilled, and aligned with who they truly are.”
Tools That Build Grounded, Lasting Resilience
The Arab Today: What tools or methods do you use to support your clients’ growth?
Grace Lian replied, “I use an integrative approach that includes EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, ACT, and relational and narrative therapies. Each client is different, so I tailor the work to meet their unique needs. The goal is always to help people feel safer in their bodies, clearer in their thinking, and more resilient in their everyday lives.”
Redefining Resilience beyond Survival
Lastly we asked, “What is the core mission behind Resilience & You?”
“My mission is to help people build resilience that goes beyond “pushing through.” I want clients to feel emotionally supported, deeply understood, and empowered to live and lead in a way that feels sustainable and authentic. True resilience comes from self-awareness, healing, and compassion and that’s what Resilience & You is all about.” Grace Lian concluded
