Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick Interview
In this exclusive conversation with, Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick, we explore the entrepreneurial journey behind Kiran Smart, Mi-Robots, and Surfsonix. From humble beginnings to pioneering robotics and digital solutions across industries, our guest shares insights on overcoming challenges, leading with empathy, balancing personal well-being, and shaping the future of technology.
Inspiration behind Founding Kiran Smart
We start the interview by asking, “What inspired you to establish Kiran Smart and later expand into Mi-Robots and Surfsonix?”
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “From a very young age, I was deeply motivated by the desire to create meaningful impact through business. Kiran Smart was born out of this vision to bring innovation, reliability, and advanced IT solutions to businesses. As the company grew, I began exploring new frontiers, and my exposure to robotics at GITEX Dubai opened a whole new world of possibilities. I saw how automation could transform industries, not just in terms of efficiency, but in the way it could redefine customer experiences. That was the spark for Mi-Robots. Later, Surfsonix emerged as part of my belief that technology should touch every aspect of our daily lives, including hospitality and lifestyle. Each venture represents an evolution of my core philosophy, creating solutions that bring real, measurable value to people and businesses.”
Overcoming Entrepreneurial Challenges
The Arab Today: How do you overcome challenges like customer trust, hiring, and market competition?
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “Challenges are an inevitable part of every entrepreneur’s journey, but I have always viewed them not as barriers, but as catalysts for growth. Building customer trust requires consistency, transparency, and the ability to truly deliver what you promise. Hiring, on the other hand, is about recognizing potential in people and nurturing them into leaders rather than just filling roles. As for competition, I don’t see it as something negative, it keeps us sharp and constantly innovating. For every difficulty, whether it is revenue generation, staffing, or differentiating ourselves, I focus on developing customized strategies that allow us to adapt and move forward with resilience.”
Leadership Values and Team Culture
The Arab Today: What leadership values set you apart in managing a team across multiple ventures?
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “My leadership philosophy is rooted in empathy and kindness. I genuinely believe kindness is more powerful than love because it brings people together in a way that creates a lasting culture of trust and collaboration. I strive to ensure that every member of my team feels heard and valued, regardless of their position. Innovation and problem-solving are important, but they flourish best in an environment where people feel safe to share ideas and take risks. My goal as a leader has always been to build not just companies, but communities of people who grow together while creating meaningful impact.”
Balancing Entrepreneurship
The Arab Today: How do you balance your entrepreneurial drive with personal well-being?
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “Entrepreneurship can be all-consuming, and it often demands sacrifice. But I have always believed that true success is incomplete without personal fulfillment. For me, maintaining balance is about consciously creating boundaries between work and personal life. It means being present with family, protecting my mental well-being, and ensuring that my pursuit of business goals does not overshadow the simple joys of life. I live by the principle of “no pain, no gain”, but I also recognize that gains are hollow if they come at the cost of happiness or peace of mind.”
Robotics Acceleration during COVID-19
The Arab Today: What role did the COVID-19 pandemic play in accelerating your robotics initiatives?
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “The pandemic was a turning point for the robotics industry and for me personally. Suddenly, the need for automation was no longer a distant idea, it became an urgent necessity. Robots were needed in hospitals to reduce human contact, in hotels to ensure safe service, in banks, airports, and public spaces to maintain operations without risking lives. For Mi-Robots, it was both a challenge and an opportunity. We scaled quickly, showcased live demos, and proved how robotics could not only meet the moment, but redefine the future of service industries. The pandemic validated the vision I had long before 2020 and gave us a platform to accelerate innovation at an unprecedented pace.”
Books and Thought Leadership
The Arab Today: You’ve also authored two books. How do they interlink with your coaching and entrepreneurial vision?
Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick replied, “Both of my books are extensions of my mission as a coach and entrepreneur. The “Roadmap to Success” provides structured guidance for achieving business success, reflecting the very strategies I have used to build my ventures. “Mind is Money” & Your Success explores the connection between mindset and financial growth, emphasizing that true wealth comes from aligning thoughts, actions, and discipline. Writing these books was a way of giving back, sharing my experiences and insights with others who are walking the same path. They complement my work as a business coach by providing a framework for readers to not just dream, but to act decisively toward their goals.”
Vision for the Future
Lastly we asked, “What is your vision for the future of Kiran Smart, Mi-Robots, and your broader ecosystem?”
“My vision is to establish these companies as globally recognized leaders in innovation. Kiran Smart and Mi-Robots are already making strong footprints across the GCC and beyond, but the goal is to expand further through direct operations, partnerships, and distributors worldwide. I see our role not just as providers of technology, but as enablers of transformation, helping businesses, governments, and individuals harness the power of automation and digital solutions. At the heart of it, my vision is about legacy. I want to leave behind organizations that continue to innovate, inspire, and improve lives long after me. Success for me is not a destination, but a continuous journey of growth, service, and leadership.” Dr. Mohammed Mubin Mallick concluded
